About the Cell

SC/ST Cell, a Statutory Committee to take care of issues relating to the students of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities.

Objectives of the Cell

The main objectives of the SC/ST Cell are the following:

1. To promote the special interest of the students belonging to SC and ST communities.
2. To provide necessary assistants for improving the learning skills of SC/ST students.
3. To ensure proper implementation of various Programmes and Schemes of State and Central Governments and also UGC and other agencies for the welfare of SC/ST students.
4. To provide information on the scholarships, stipends and other assistants available for SC/ST students from various agencies.
5. To arrange programmes for the promotion of life skills and personality development of SC/ST students.
6. To ensure equity and justice for the SC/ST students.

Scope of the Cell

The Cell will

1. Examine the availability of welfare programmes for SC/ST students.
2. Look into the problems encountered by them.
3. Receive complaints from the SC/ST students on any specific matter.
4. Respond to their grievances and issues in a time-bound manner.
5. Ensure that the scholarships and assistance from governmental or non-governmental agencies are disbursed on time.

Functioning of the Cell

The SC/ST Cell functions in the college under the supervision of a committee chaired by the Principal. A senior faculty member will be the Convener of the committee and there will be four members in the committee, including the Convener.
